Jouli is a free AI energy advisor for Australian homes, built and run by Mission Green Pty Ltd, an Australian CEC/SAA-accredited solar, battery and electrification installer. This policy explains what we collect when you use Jouli, why, who helps us process it, and the rights you have under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
We try to collect only what we need to answer your questions and keep the service running.
What we don't collect: we don't take any payment or card details, because Jouli is free. We don't ask for or store financial account logins. And we don't build advertising profiles about you.
Jouli gives honest general guidance and can make mistakes. It is not a licensed financial or energy adviser, and it is not an electricity retailer. We mention this here because it shapes what your information is — and isn't — used for.
Mission Green is the installer that builds and runs Jouli. If Jouli is helping you toward a purchase and you ask to be put in touch — and only after you give a clear “yes” in the chat — we pass your details to the Mission Green team so a specialist can follow up, usually within one business day. What we send is what you provided for that purpose (your name and contact method, plus any address, rough bill size and the kind of system you’re interested in), along with a short snippet of the relevant conversation so they have context. We never send this without your explicit consent, you can decline at any time, and declining doesn’t change your free access to Jouli.
Because Mission Green runs Jouli, this is an in-house introduction you asked for — not a sale of your data to a third party (see “We never sell your personal data” below). The referral is delivered to the Mission Green team using FormSubmit (email delivery) at info@missiongreen.com.au.
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Jouli. They process data on our behalf, under our instructions, and only for the purposes above:
Some of these providers may store or process data on servers outside Australia. We choose providers that we consider take privacy and security seriously, and we only share what each one needs to do its job.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, and we don't share it for third-party advertising. Passing your details to Mission Green when you ask to be contacted (above) is an in-house introduction you opted into — not a sale. The only reason Mission Green earns anything is if you later choose to have us install solar, a battery or electrification work — Jouli itself is free, and your personal information isn't the product.
Australia has surprisingly little honest public data on what households actually pay for power, or what solar and batteries really cost once installed. So when you share a figure with Jouli to run a calculation — a tariff rate, a quarterly bill, a quote price, a system size — we may keep that number on its own, immediately stripped of anything that could identify you: no name, email, phone, address, account, or original bill or photo, and tagged at most with your state. In the same de-identified way, we may also note which kind of question you asked — a topic and a state (for example, "someone in VIC asked about batteries"), never the words you typed.
We use these anonymous figures two ways: to replace Jouli's rough benchmarks with what people in your state genuinely pay, so the advice gets sharper for everyone; and, in aggregate only, to report energy-market insights such as a typical installed solar price by region. Because the figures are de-identified the moment we keep them, and only ever reported in aggregate, they are not your personal information and they can't be traced back to you — so sharing or publishing them is not selling your data. You're always in control of which numbers you type, and if you have any concern you can contact us at the address below.
By using Jouli's chat, you're consenting to your messages (and any photo you upload) being processed to answer you, as described above. The Jouli Watch digest is separate and opt-in — we only email you if you signed up.
You can withdraw consent at any time:
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, then delete or de-identify it.
We use providers and practices designed to protect your information — including encrypted connections and access controls — and we limit who and what can reach your data. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, in line with APP 11.
Jouli handles your information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles, which govern how Australian organisations collect, use, store, disclose and secure personal information. Among other things, the APPs give you the right to:
To access or correct your information, just email us at the address below and we'll help. If we can't action a request, we'll explain why.
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first — we'd like the chance to put it right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), which oversees privacy in Australia, at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Jouli is intended for adults making decisions about their home energy, and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
If our data practices change, we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes affecting subscribers, we may also note it in a Jouli Watch email.
For any privacy question or request — access, correction, unsubscribing, or a complaint — contact Mission Green Pty Ltd at privacy@jouli.com.au. We aim to respond promptly.
